Victory for Whistleblower Who Stood Up to Gender Ideology at Children’s Hospital

Nearly two years ago, armed federal agents showed up on Dr. Eithan Haim’s doorstep because he spoke a truth that the government didn’t like.

A month earlier, Dr. Haim had exposed Texas Children’s Hospital for inflicting harm on minors through administering puberty blockers and hormones for “gender transition” efforts—all done in secret, after the hospital publicly disavowed such “treatments.”

The case against Dr. Haim could have cost him a decade of his life in federal prison. But, praise God, the truth prevailed, and the Department of Justice has dropped the charges against Dr. Haim.

Dr. Haim reveals the truth about gender procedures at TCH

In early 2022, Texas Children’s Hospital said it would stop using cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers on minors for “gender transitions.”

The public statement followed an opinion issued by the Texas attorney general rightfully deeming these experiments to be “child abuse.”

But Dr. Haim knew what was happening in the shadows.

Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH)—the nation’s largest children’s hospital—continued to perform these experimental procedures on minors.

In fact, just three days after the hospital issued its statement, a surgeon implanted a puberty-blocking device into a pre-teen girl.

Dr. Haim couldn’t keep silent. He had read extensively about the harms of these drugs and procedures. He had to do what he could to stop more children from being hurt.

He revealed the truth to a journalist, sharing evidence that doctors at TCH were administering puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones and performing other harmful procedures on children—some as young as 11.

Dr. Haim asked to remain anonymous in the article. He was cited simply as a “whistleblower.”

But a month later, armed federal agents knocked on his door. They said he was being criminally investigated for sharing the truth about what was happening to children at TCH. President Biden’s Justice Department then charged him with violating patient privacy laws.

Dr. Haim committed no crime. But he was facing the possibility of a decade in prison and thousands of dollars in fines—not to mention bankrupting legal fees—because he dared to expose and oppose the harms of gender ideology.

The government wrongly pursues Dr. Haim

Over the next year, Dr. Haim and his family withstood tremendous political pressure and legal struggle.

It jeopardized his and his wife Andrea’s careers. They endured many sleepless nights and looming fear over the possibility that their family could be separated by prison bars for up to a decade. An hour after he and Andrea welcomed their first child, Dr. Haim had to leave for a court appearance.

The case upended Dr. Haim’s life.

The Biden administration directed the Department of Justice to punish Dr. Haim for exposing the truth about the harmful procedures inflicted upon children at TCH. He spoke out against the government’s gender ideology and was paying the price.

But Dr. Haim didn’t bow to the political, cultural, or legal pressures. With the help of ADF Allied Attorney Marcella Burke, Dr. Haim fought back against this unjust investigation.

Thankfully, in January 2025, the charges against Dr. Haim were dropped. The case was finally over.

A win for Dr. Haim—and the country

This win is great news for Dr. Haim—whose family can finally rest after a year and a half of strife—and for America.

A few days after Dr. Haim’s victory announcement, President Trump signed an executive order protecting children against the kinds of procedures that Dr. Haim exposed to the public.

The United States has been lagging behind many countries that have publicly reversed course on using dangerous, irreversible “gender transition” hormones and surgeries on minors.

The president’s executive order, along with legal victories like Dr. Haim’s, seem to signal a critical shift in the right direction for the safety of children across the country.

But this progress begins with people like Dr. Haim who were willing to tell the truth even at great personal cost—like the government wielding its power to silence and punish them.

Children are safer today because Dr. Haim blew the whistle. And as the rallying cry against gender ideology grows louder, let’s pray that more Americans come to see and stand for the truth too.
