In 2005, Paul Royse a police officer with the Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs, requested that he not be scheduled to work on Sundays so that he could attend church services. Although the previous head of security accomodated Royse’s request by scheduling him for a night shift, a new supervisor refused, and instead treated the request as an unrescindable letter of recognition, even though other employees were available to work on Sundays. ADF later finalized a settlement on behalf of Royse.
