Senate Votes Against Female Athletes. But We Won’t Back Down.
Recently, the U.S. Senate failed to advance the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. The bill had passed the House of Representatives, but is now effectively dead.
This is an act of betrayal against young women and girls who deserve privacy, safety and fairness.
From state athletic associations to the federal government, efforts in recent years to allow male athletes into women’s sports are:
- Eroding equal opportunities and fair play for women
- Destroying student privacy
- Risking the health and safety of female athletes
Government officials and activists claim that this radical change won’t affect women’s opportunities. But the government can’t redefine “sex” without doing that.
Men and women are made distinct, in the image of God. And yet efforts to change federal law to blur or obscure these differences reflect a lie. Denying biological reality has consequences.
Men and women are created equally valuable, yet wonderfully different. When we deny this simple fact and put males in women’s sports, female athletes are denied opportunities to compete, victories they’ve earned, and more.
When we reject the truth—like the Senate did—we also allow men to violate the safety of women’s private spaces, like locker rooms.
We’re determined to make sure that young women’s rights and safety are given the protection they deserve—and we won’t let one setback like the Senate’s vote stop us.
